About Colin Groom

In 1959, Colin left school and started his apprenticeship with the Donald Healey Motor Company.

Colin worked for the company for 8 years (1959 - 1967), spending 6 years in the Experimental, Research and Race Department.

In 1965, Colin was the mechanic to the Austin Healey Le Mans 24 Hour Race team. 1965 saw the car manage speeds of 160 mph to win 1st place in its class and 12th place overall.

In 1967, Colin left the company and joined the main Jaguar/Rover agent where he worked his way up to diagnostic tester in 2 years and was then promoted to white collar foreman.

In 1972, Colin left the Midlands and came to Torbay to start up his own business, specialising in British sports cars, servicing and restoration.
